Posts: 11666 (05/29/05 16:23:52) Hopeless Romantic Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Well, it felt good to finally be able to watch the episode in time for the discussion tonight. I haven't caught up with the episodes prior but I'm working on it. This episode is always tough to watch because N is so conflicted, and I get where she's coming from. It was interesting to hear how M didn't feel she was ready to be promoted and that, not surprisingly, he was promoted early as well. I do find it odd that Vizcano's jacket didn't include her psych file yet everyone else seemed to be aware of her psychological problems. Had N never really known because she was a lower level op? You'd think an operative trying to commit suicide over M would be widespread knowledge. I wonder how much N realized that Vizcano was really like her. The only difference was Vizcano was a marginal performer while N was able to go off mission parameter and still pull things off. It had to be hard, though, to see Vizcano die on her watch, especially since Vizcano had saved N's life earlier in the mission. One of the most intriguing parts of this episode to me is the conversation Ops has with M about stomping out N's compassion. I do think M has held off on crushing N's humanity precisely because that's part of what he loves about her. The first scene when Ops talks with Michael , the whole moment actually , Ops ... saying : " We need a team Leader " ... I love to see Michael's face when they both saw Nikita's name as a chance ... Later , in Michael's office he really look worried about Nikita ... Michael : " she's not ready " Ops : " she'll have to be ... " And Vizcano ... ? well ... That's another story I guess The big difference between Nikita and Vizcano is : Nikita loves to Michael but she is stronger than Vizcano to can keeping her feelings about him " out of her whole life" I mean : Nikita can let it go ... if it's necessary .Vizcano was more weak-mentally than Nikita ... she never could to carry on Michael's games like Nikita did ... And , of course Vizcano was nuts before to come Section One ... and Michael ? worse her condition ...

Maap, do you think they were both surprised that it was N's named that popped up? That moment was classic. That conversation between Vizcano and N was very telling. They seem in shock ... especially Michael ... I love to see The conversations between Nikita and Vizcano in " System ? " ( I guess ) ... Yeah , there are some moments when we can see Nikita is thinking about herself ... while Vizcano is talking about her feeling for Michael ... I love to look at Nikita when Vizcano asks her : " how feel ... be loved by Michael ... ? Nikita : " I don't know .... " LIER !! ( sorry , I don't know if that dialogue has the right words ... I don't remember the exact ones )

I guess I just assumed that Section has so many operatives that you just can't know ALL of them. Considering that Nikita was spending so much time in focusing on saving her a$$ and Michael, I could kinda see how she might not necessarily know about Vizcano...particularly if she was in Medlab after her attempted suicide while Nikita was just coming out of training. Posts: 772 (05/29/05 18:39:34) Michael's Team Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	In this episode Nikita leads her first mission. And, like with any first mission, not everything goes smoothly. She picks Vizcano as one of her operatives, without realizing that Vizcano has psychological problems connected with her feelings for Michael. Naturally, Michael does not tell Nikita anything about Vizcanos psychological profile, because he wants Nikita to learn to control a rebellious operative. My favourite part is when he says something like: It is better to be ruthless, but, if you cannotit is better to appear that way. Nikita gets the idea, and, on egress to their second mission, she punches Vizcano to the ground and scratches her throat with a knife in order to make her listen and obey. Vizcano is insubordinate and rebellious a bit like Nikita was in Season 1. She fails to follow orders during the first mission, and Operations wants Nikita to order her to be put in abeyance, but Nikita refuses to do that because she does not think an operative should be cancelled for one mistake. On the mission to bring in Starks associate, Nikita almost fails again, when the target almost manages to run away as Nikita saves Vizcanos life from one of the bad guys. Naturally, she is criticised for that by Operations, who tells her that, basically, no one in Section can afford to be compassionate, especially not him. (Surprise, surprise) Finally, when Nikita takes her team out onto the main mission, Vizcano is supposed to backstop (?? whatever that means can someone please explain this to me). Nikita does not like it, because she does not want anyone to die on her mission. She even tells Michael to keep the date he has promised Vizcano upon her return. Unfortunately during the mission she misjudges Stark, and makes a mistake of telling him that she wants to bring him in alive, when he holds Vizcano at gunpoint. Like a SOTW he is, he realizes that he can do what he wants and throws Vizcano off a catwalk, killing her. And, of course, after interrogation Stark is released because he is deemed to be useful to Section, even though he has killed one of the operatives. Thats VERY Section-like! Not a bad episode. It is nice to see Nikita as a mission leader for the first time. I would have likes to see Michael kick some a$$ too, though. "Sometimes all we have is our dreams." Michael Samuelle

I did not enjoy watching that scene very much. Operations and Madeline, on the other hand, enjoyed seeing that very much! They even commented on how Nikita was becoming "one of us". The older Roberta was played by Margot Kidder, which just so happens to be Vizcano( Janet Kidder) real Aunt. Whew it was driving me crazy trying to figure out who she reminded me of. I think N & V had found some kind of common ground to get along better in Section To bad she had to die Life in Section oh well "Comes and Goes"

JMHO And that SOTW...talk about annoying! I would have had a very hard time trying NOT to shoot him. I also like Walter in this ep. He's so sweet and all full of words of wisdom. When N & W have their "moments" it sooo funny Birky on the other hand...all "supportive" like that....stating the obvious to Nikita...kinda like twisting the knife in a wound! I love the way M comes back in his office to give N advice after their talk He just can't leave her like that... Ops having no choice... HELLOOOOO!!!!!!! Doesn't he remember that he WILLINGY came here?????? Jeez!! What a 2-faced!!! what stroke me in this episode was Nikita leaving Ops hanging with the words in his mouth TWICE!!! Hmm, I think that Nikita was kind of lost in that moment and did not know what to do, and that is why Vizcano ended up dead.
