In any case, I apologize for not having this thread open for the kickoff tonight. Once again, I was unable to watch the episode as I had hoped so you'll have to run with it until I get a chance to come back and comment. Afterall, we get to see Michael and Nikita together throughout almost the entire episode. Nikita really pulls at Michael's heartstrings in this one. I love it after he puts the children out of the truck, then backs up to let them back in! He really wants to help them, but he also knows how dangerous it is for the children to be with them. Birkoff's little fling with Gail is really cute. And Maddy stringing him along, letting him think Gail would be cancelled....that's just cruel! I like to believe the children really did have that happy ending reunited with their parents. I've always told myself that the reunion was real, and Nikita was dreaming something else at the end. She looked a little distraught, not like she just dreamt of something happy. But I'm a sucker for happy endings! Afterall, Maddy never answered Nikita's question about getting the parents out.....hmmm. "It took me four days to find Nikita. Posts: 296 (05/15/05 17:02:19) Comm Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Okay, I don't like to say it, but this is absolutely the worst episode of season two in my opinion. I love that Michael and Nikita work together throughout the episode, but I can barely watch it. The storyline with the kids is awful. Perhaps if this show was part of season one, it wouldn't be unusual for Nikita to want to take the kids with them, but by this point Nikita knows how things work. In this mindset of hers, she often makes things more complicated and puts more people at risk. Think about the gypsy girl - section was going to kill off the whole family after Nikita got involved. Who's to say if the kids are better off without their parents in some other country.

Posts: 0 (05/15/05 17:15:50) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I liked this episode. Yes, it's slow, but it felt like the Nikita character we knew from Season 1. Of course she wouldn't leave kids in a war zone to fend for themselves. Kinda surprised she didn't shoot guards to get the parents out though. I also liked the Birkoff story and wish we'd have seen him happy a bit longer with her before the end of that relationship.

Posts: 772 (05/15/05 17:41:15) Michael's Team Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	For me personally, this episode is very hard to watch. Images of civil war are never pleasant. This episode shows Nikitas humanity in all its glory: right from the start she opens her heart to Peter and Sasha. She does not care in the least whether Michael approves the fact that she takes the two children on board: not that she seems to ordinarily care about her orders when the innocents are concerned. Totally in character, she initially compromises the mission in order to save them from certain death at the rebels hands. And her influence even rubs off on the all-Section Michael, who reluctantly ends up agreeing to help the children. The scenes of the train yards are horrifying, especially when they show a warehouse full of the detainees clothing. I can just imagine what happened to the owners of those clothes: reminds me of what I have read in history books about Auschwitz. And the bad guy of the week (Luca) well, he strikes me as an absolutely pathetic coward. One moment he is shown killing one of the unfortunate detainees in cold blood, and, in almost the very next scene he expects Michael and Nikita to show him the same compassion that he himself seems to lack. I think I can see just the moment when Michael decides that he would rather reunite Peter and Sasha with their parents than waste any more time on this SOTW. We also find out that Gail is a kleptomaniac. What does everyone think about that? "Sometimes all we have is our dreams." Michael Samuelle

" And I may add: M&N together I agree it's not one of the best episodes, but I too like to see M&N together "playing house" I just wish they could play it for real, but I'm digressing. I also enjoy seeing again M's soft side giving into N and protecting those kids after all. Although as I've read on several other ep commentaries I think that M's helping the kids was a combination of them reminding him of him and his sister and N, and knowing she would never forgive him if he had just let them die. Besidesnot even M could resist all of them looking at him with Bambi eyes ( N and the 2 kids) when he initially said that they would not take them along. I just love the way those look exchanges take place.
