I have always had mixed feelings about this ep. While we once again get to see Michael's strength and restraint, we also have to deal with the overwhelming fact that Section will always come between Michael and Nikita. He asks her out, goes into mandatory refusal, locks her up, nearly shoots her, and then tells her he can't let her become his weakness! Guess what! She already is his weakness!!

Weakness.....hmmm....sounds like ops weakness shines through in this one too! Is it just me, or is he just a little over the top here!!! The mission becomes stopping Michael....not getting the material, stopping the bad guys, or even rescuing Maddy (although that would obviously follow).

THEN Maddy fusses at Nikita for letting her emotions take over, regardless of Ops' actions!! COME ON!!!

Maddy was Class A while being held though. She maintains her dignity and resists the interrogation of sorts, throughout. And (possibly) flatlined on purpose to convince Enquist to remove the contraption.

OK, now on to the nit-picking.....
How did Nikita track Michael. I could see maybe she bugged his bike during the shootout???

And, speaking of the shootout....
why did they switch to hard ammo?? Another trank in the right place probably would've taken Michael down!
At least Michael didn't shoot to kill, and deliberately missed Nikita altogether!

loan31 - I loved the teaser in this one. Maddy is so cold outwardly to Ops, but I thought she was trying to supress her own feelings for him. She seems like she really loves him, but doesn't want to continue whatever intimacy they had, because she sees how it effects his job performance (and possibly her's as well).

I also wondered how they caught Maddy. You almost never see her leave Section, and they usually go into Close Quarters Standby before/during missions.

That has always bothered me too. Maybe Michael and Mowen changed clothes and M got stuck with the bug N planted on Mowen And if she tracked him once, why did she need Birkoff's help to track him to that house?

Maybe... Ops was quite fond of sniffing her hair. I dont know if she loves him, or he just makes her uncomfortable.

I like Micheal but I always wished he would quit playing yo-yo with Nikita's emotions in S1 and S2. It is strange considering how devoted Ops is to Maddy in this episode, Inside Out and Last Night, that TPTB decided to take him to almost casually letting her be killed in Sleeping With the Enemy. With the exception of most of S4, where Maddy was written primarily as a one dimensional person which IMO was a mistake, there are little clues here and there in various ep. that hint at a warmer side and a soft spot for Nikita and vice versa. The amount of warmth Madeline diplayed seemed to depend on the writer of the particular ep. Cyrus Nowrasteh used to allow more shades of Madeline's character to be revealed.
Having spent a great deal of time with disabled persons and those with varying recurring conditions, I have to say that although I acknowledge Maddy's strength of mind, she did not stop her own heart. I know several individuals with heart murmurs, and some with other conditions who in stress filled circumstances can feel their condition being exacerbated before technological evidence displays it. Often, something as minor as a common chest cold can precipitate a usually dormant condition to become active. Life in Section is hard on the body and the psyche. Madeline was probably screened like everyone else when she entered Section,but her years inside may have taken its toll on her heart. It would be typical of Maddy to turn what could be a weakness into a strength. In Rescue, Madeline ingested something that would stimulate a heart attack. Who knows how many times in the past she had to do something similar to affect a successful mission. The human body is only so tolerant and Section isn't inclined to be delicate with its operatives.

loan31 & webweevil -- Actually, one or both of the goateed men (they are twins, you know ) will show up in EVERY ep throughout the remainder of s2. It's LFN's answer to "Where's Waldo?"

I love this ep, too! Frustrated as he11 that Operations is willing to sacrifice Michael just to save Madeline ...what happens to his blood cover mission, then? Talk about short-sighted! I also don't think Nikita's ultimate goal was to save Madeline, but to save Michael. Saving Madeline was just a means to the end game and a bonus, since she is "one of them." I never really thought Madeline stopped her own heart, although I know many fans did and do. I wish Michael didn't pull back from Nikita at the end of the ep, but I understand why he did it...and I think she does, too, on some level.

Webweevil- My real life never interferes with my enjoyment of LFN. Except that they cancelled it and won't bring it back. Or that I can't even get it on re-runs, or that I have to endure promos for movies with people like Paris Hilton while hoping Peta gets a descent role. Hmmm, maybe I should reconsider...
