Unfortunately, RL continues to keep me away from the computer and my DVD player, so I hope you'll keep running with the discussion ball as you all have been doing so well in the past few weeks. I live for the day when I can join you again on a regular basis. Thanks for keeping these discussions going in my absence. I really appreciate it.

OK, let's get this thread goin'!
This is such a bitter-sweet arc. On the one hand, I'm glad that TPTB provided us with an explanation of sorts for Michael's distancing himself from Nikita. But a wife and child?? Poor Nikita feels so out of place. I'm going from memory here, ). You can tell that Nikita definitely doesn't like the fact a child involved with this mission (And I totally agree!) She feels bad for Elana, who's destined to have her heart broken when it all ends. Its nice to know that Nikita still has "a soul" and is concerned for the feelings of innocents, even if she is "misguided" like Ops says. * * * * * * * spoilers * * * * * * * * * * I wonder if Michael was beginning at this point to prepare himself emotionally for the end of his blood cover mission. In Gates of Hell he seemed as if he hadn't even thought of how he'd feel when the mission was completed, even though he knew it was inevitable. Michael always seemed to think 2 steps ahead, but in this arc, we just don't seem to see that. Maybe he just couldn't fathom the feelings a parent goes through when one "loses" a child. "It took me four days to find Nikita. That leaves eleven"

elevendaze -- I was also glad that Nikita didn't take her frustration with the situation out on Elena...that wouldn't have been fair and Elena certainly didn't deserve it!
As for not preparing himself emotionally...I think Michael was practicing his patented denial once again. He'd pushed out of his mind the feelings he didn't want to process and they just came to the surface and bubbled over in GOH. But that's for another thread! ![]() GOTTA HAVE MICHAEL'S JOYSTICK! I'm doing this from memory since I briefly viewed the first and last episodes on the DVD, but don't actually have the S3 DVD's.
The scene where Nikita throws that guy out of the window and then follows him was so cool. I love the way she casually puts him into position first. I've heard that Peta doesn't like heights and that looked very believable as she looked down out of the window before the jump. The lyrics to the song "Please" that plays while Nikita is watching Micheal's window are so appropriate, "... alone again." This scene pisses me off so much, that and the fact that at breakfast the following morning, Nikita looks tired especially after running with Elena and Micheal is smiling at her across the table. Was that necessary? I was like wipe the damn smile off your face Micheal, can't you see she isn't having a good morning. Yes I know he was in character but still... |

Quote:No, she doesn't. She reportedly only had to jump four stories for her part. Quote:What about the "window" scene pi$$es you off? The thing that irks me is that they have a Michael and Abby flashback in there, which is obviously a continuity flaw. Whomever was selecting the clips wasn't paying attention! As for the "Good morning" scene, I get your point, but I LOVED how he looked in it! I thought it was sweet that he was able to be outwardly proud of Nikita's "fashion designs." He was almost flirting with her a bit right in front of Elena! ![]() GOTTA HAVE MICHAEL'S JOYSTICK! I have command. ![]() NIKITA: "You're going to kill me?" Four stories is still alot! Have you ever been on the fourth floor of a building and contemplated how far down the street was?
I was all set to check that continuity flaw because I didn't remember it and realized that I didn't remember that I had no tapes or DVD's of that ep. I just basically felt sorry for Nikita being stuck in that house with a front row seat of married Micheal. |

anansiimoj -- Four stories is better than the eight or however many that the stunt person had to jump!
I've gone up to the third diving tower at our community pool. You can see New York City from there (I live in New Jersey)! You don't have the s3 DVDs yet? The flashback clip was Michael and Abby in bed from CAM. Whomever was searching for clips obviously saw Roy, Peta and skin in a bed scene and grabbed it! ![]() GOTTA HAVE MICHAEL'S JOYSTICK! So you went up three levels, took one look, said HELL NO! and came down a level. Sounds reasonable. LOL
I DON'T HAVE S3 DVD'S. Got them from Best Buy, found a flaw in OBT, the picture distorted. Sent them back. Now- TRUST NO ONE. |

Excuse me a second to vent
I had just written my post...carefully and added stuff...and just before sending it... Boom. The power gets CUT OFF!!!!! And it lasted for ALMOST 3 hours!!!!!!! somebody has to be cancelled for that!!! It was DARK too Ok...thanx for listening Quote: Quote: I have to agree with KG on this one. Michael, as usual, was conveying so much with his eyes...like he was saying: "I'm sorry, it's a mission, it's YOU I love" Quote: Don't remind me!!! How dare they show M in bed with another woman, part of Nikita's "memories"? That's just WRONG!!!! And just another example of writers "watching" (NOT!) the previous episodes I don't remember what else I had written, but if I do...I'll come back after I calm down a bit ![]() |

NEVER! Well maybe not never, but I'll probably get S4 DVD's before I re-order S3. From somewhere other than Best Buy, this is the second time I have had a problem with their merchandise. I still have to replace a pair of sneakers my cat tore up, so no time soon.

Re: LFN on DVD: Someone Else's Shadow | ||

This arc was really strange to me. I like Elena, seeing how sweet and smart she is, and since the mission was so vague and open ended, it really seemed odd to me Michael could have fallen for Nikita while being with Elena.
In other words this was retro-continuity that didn't really work for me. It's hard for me to think of this episode as anything other than the setup of a two-parter, but I really liked the scene in the park. |

Poor Pattyko, I hope your trip was better than your homecoming. Speaking from experience, I know that sucks.
Not only was Micheal married to Simone when his mission to Elena started, but he had to mourn her as the mission continued. Frankly, Micheal's entire marriage to Elena always involved another woman. And as Walter said, (and he knew about Micheal's bloodcover) Micheal shut himself off until Nikita arrived. So while he still played the devoted husband and father at home, it wasn't enough to restore his soul. |

And eventually he had to move on.. I said in one of these threads that he realized it during the episode, and that's still my interpretation of it.
