I loved this episode...I thought it was crazy. It was just really interesting to wacth as Op's ex-wife slowly......."slipped into darkness," could we say
I have to say I just laughed when Nikita was so very blunt with her outside the house after she's seen the tape of Nikita and her husband. It was just so wrong to flat out say "..... We're in love and we're gonna get married, after he dumps you." I mean it's not at all funny, but just how outrageous it is enough to make ME laugh. Also thought the whole mixture of Ops, Maddy, and the ex-wife was kinda... well, i dunno what to call it, but it was weird to have them all in the same situation. I wonder how Op's felt about the woman he loves now helping to destroy the woman he used to love (and maybe still does?). I was relieved to see that Operations was upset after seeing what the outcome was of the whole operation. As he became teary-eyed while wacthing her from the car, you start to realize that perhaps Operations isn't just, at his core, a power-hungry maniac, who sees targets rather than people, but someone who was made that way, because of the many hardshipsd he had to go through. I think this was evident before (with his sayin things like "get over it" to michael, about losing a child in the beginning of season 3), but it's easy to forget with all the crappy stuff he does. ------------------------------------------------- Michael: "..Tell them only what they need to know." Nikita: "In other words, treat them like animals.." Michael: "Animals with guns." |

This episode really bothered me. All the mind games.... usually I can understand that what the operatives are doing is for the better good, but the way they went about setting the husband and wife up, just seemed outright cruel and vindictive. It bothered me enough that I haven't wanted to watch it again. Even Nikita seemed cruel in this episode and didn't put up much of a fight about setting this innocent women up.

Webweevil, I agree with you about this eppy. It had to be another way to cancel Markali, without death at his own wife hands, Why not just take him out when Section went thur the
the "Set Up" of Nikita saving his life. |

Re: mind games | ||

I think they couldn't just assassinate him, because they had to make it look like the murder wasn't politically motivated. If he was killed in a drive-by like the set-up, it would have created problems amoung the peoploe, because they liked him (and didnt know who he REALLY was). If they saw that there favorite candidate was killed, they's think he was killed by opposing political parties, and they might revolt, or something.
So, if everyone believes his wife went bonkers, and then killed him, they never think twice about anything political. I think Maddy even says somehting at the end about people believing that it was just a personal matter and that they'll never find out. ------------------------------------------------- Michael: "..Tell them only what they need to know." Nikita: "In other words, treat them like animals.." Michael: "Animals with guns." |

I didn't really like this episode, obviously... Nikita and another man... and by now...you all know how much I "love" see M&N with other persons...
Ops..did seem human somewhere on the inside... VERY VERY VERY VERY deep inside, when he was sad seeing Corrine in a wheelchair, but otherwise...he was just being his usual cruel self. I mean... he almost seemed upset that Corinne went on with her life and was happy with another man( he didn't look happy when C said she'd got over losing "Paul" years ago And both Ops and Maddy destroying an innocent woman like this... AND using Nikita as a sexual object again ( or at least rrying to) It's just WRONG! Why couldn't they just let it slip to the press some of his Extracurricular activities and THEN assasinate them, make it look like a revenge or something. The ycertainly had the resources...but...where would be the fun in that? No...first we have to destroy her..make her go mad...and lock her up BAD Section!!! ![]() |

"didn't really like this episode, obviously... Nikita and another man... and by now...you all know how much I "love" see M&N with other persons... "haha I was surprised by the fact that, even though she stuck up for him, it didn't seem like Nikita cared as much as she used to (about screwing over seemingly innocent people). I can imagine this episode being very different if it were in, say, Season 1; Nikita would be going out of her way to protect Corrine and hubby, which of course probably would have gotten her cancelled (cuz he was bad after all)......so maybe its for the best this didnt happen in Season 1. ------------------------------------------------- Michael: "..Tell them only what they need to know." I liked the ep, despite how twisted it was.
It was pretty resourceful the way Section could convince a very happily married woman to turn on her husband (even though they had to drug her to do it). I loved the end when Corrine spots Ops watching her from the car. She looks so deeply at him, then brushes it off as if its part of her madness. Maybe that's part of why Ops looked upset. Birky is some kind of genius, the way he could doctor that video tape. Not so much the audio - that's easy. But to have Markali in his undershirt and climbing on top of Nikita like that. Maybe Section has their own stunt doubles! "It took me four days to find Nikita. That leaves eleven"

It was extreme even with Section.A lot more to explain with C killing M. Ops had no control over the out come .What if the shot wasn,t fatal?

Dramatically, I liked the episode, but yeh, I felt weird about Nikita going to the door and pushing her over the edge on the "affair". Seemed out of character.

Re: mind games | ||

This was a cold episode in spite of the impressions that no one was happy about what had to be done to Corinne. What escapes me is why Operations informed EVERYONE at the briefing that Corinne was his wife? Surely only Madeline really needed to know, if she didn't already. Madeline was worried about the perception that Ops was using his position to exact revenge on his ex, that perception wouldn't have existed if he hadn't told everybody his business.
Since Section had the ability to tamper with the recording of Nikita and Markali, I'm assuming that this was just another test to see whether or not Nikita would seduce her mark. I did think the way Nikita answered Madeline about being able to seduce Markali was funny. She was so blase about it, considering that despite her appeal to the opposite sex, she's a pretty lousy Valentine Op. I also liked the exchange between Nikita and Madeline when Madeline challenged her knowledge of Markali's true beliefs and Nikita answered that she knew because Madeline had trained her to " read people." Madeline's smile and response that Nikita liked to " believe in people," was classic. |
